Yesterday, we had our friends over to play. The kids had a GREAT time! While they were outside, exploring, Will found a box turtle. I am sure the turtle has quite an adventurous story to tell his wife, if he ever finds his way home, again. :)

Where the Heart is...
This weekend, I decided to participate in a "weekend project." The Challenge was to photograph a "happy place." My first thought is, 'Colorado is my happy place. but since I am in Kansas City, i can't photograph Colorado, right now.' so my second thought was, "home is where the heart is... home, my boys, my loves, they are my happy place." So, i grabbed the tripod, the camera, and the boys. I got them in front of my blue door, and tried to frame them w/ my heart shaped hands. Put the camera on timer, and 'framed' the boys w/ my hands.... I got one OK pic, and then the boys just melted down. they were NOT interested or willing to participate in my photo weekend project. No, the pix aren't perfect. I will experiment more w/ this idea. BUT they totally crack me up...

Six years ago today...
On 05/04/03, Tornadoes ripped thru Kansas City metro area.
My husband and i watched the news and the weather station, and saw the tornado cross the Missouri River, and aim for my hubby's parents' home. The home that my hubby helped them build. Soon after the tornado hit, we all agreed to pass the home and land down to me and my family. It's been 6 years! We are still not done with the home, but it's definitely livable. :)

Debris littered the land. one part of the wall was blown to the other side of this cabana. that's a long way to go for a WALL!!!

This is the South Facing side of our home. All of the windows were broken. Look in the top right side of the home. there were branches that penetrated all the way thru the wall!!!
Good news, no one was hurt here. There were 2 people who lost their lives on that day in the outbreak of tornadic storms.
